Assignment 2

The Gadgets Galore consists of 10 UCSI students. The idea of developing this website is to provide more information about all the latest I.T gadgets in the market. From mobile phones to cameras…We have them all in our website. Each of the department head will introduce 3 gadgets from the same category. All of the group members decided to complete our own write up after our first meeting. We came to the idea where everyone does their write up in a Microsoft Word document first before we process any further. This is to make sure all our work is standardized and to double check our group mate’s work too. I must say that the process of doing this assignment was fun! Because I do not have Dream Weaver in my desktop, I had to meet up an old friend of mine to use his laptop. He is a Linux user and I know nothing about Linux. I management to do my Dream Weaver using his laptop and I learnt something new that day; using Linux and Dream Weaver. I was not that difficult after all to do my work in Dream Weaver.

My notes review

I was talking about Email in my notes review. The topic is very interesting as I have to link it to the gadgets that I’m in charge of. In my opinion, most of the people now actually use their hand phones to check emails or go online. It has made life better every since the invention of 3G via mobile phones.

Throughout the process of completing this assignment, I’ve learn things that cannot be leant in class. Not only about I.T gadgets but also communicating with other group members.

I also learnt to use Dream Weaver and upload it to our group website. While I was doing my profile page in Dream Weaver, my profile picture didn’t not appear. Later, I found our that I didn’t put them in the correct folder as what I’ve written in my code (the path was wrong). After checking my code one more time, I realized what my mistake is, I then manage my images in the same folder as “images”. My profile page can be done so smoothly because our lecturer Ms.Sha did teach us to use Front Page and it’s similar to Dream Weaver. I manage to finish my part of work in less than a day. Thanks Ms.Sha.

My HTML experience...

To be honest, this is my very first time doing HTML and I must say that it's a challenging task for me. Through out the process I did learn things that cannot be learnt from the text book or just by studying the notes given by the lecturer.

1. I did all the work that Ms.Sha taught us in the Lab and I try to play with it at home too... Knowing that i'm a Mass Comm student and i'm not good at IT at all.

2. My team mate and I actually did the HTML together first (at home)

3. We tried bravehost at first but i'm not sure how we can load the files therefore we chose WEbs.com instead

4. As we all know, the technology no is very advance and everything is ever-ready on the web therefore I had to downgrade the account in order for us to upload our HTML file.

5. Things comes pretty easy after we created an account at Webs.com, I followed the method that we learnt from class that we have to creat a HTML file then create an 'image' file under HTML file.

6. The file was successfuly uploaded!

Through out the whole process I did had hard time by understanding how the HTML files works on web. But now, I think I have no quiries anymore.
